An upcoming NASA launch to the International Space Station may be visible to people in multiple states in the eastern U.S.
Weather permitting, NASA will launch the Northrop Grumman’s Antares rocket Aug. 1 at 8:31 p.m. ET from the NASA from the Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island in eastern Virginia. According to NASA, the launch may be visible to residents throughout the mid-Atlantic region and possibly on the East Coast.
The launch is Northrop Grumman's 19th expedition, where it delivers supplies, science investigations and equipment to the International Space Station.

NASA recommends multiple locations in states surrounding Wallops Island for the best views of the launch, weather permitting.

- Chincoteague Island, Virginia: Robert Reed Park on Main Street or Beach Road between Chincoteague and Assateague Islands
- Ocean City, Maryland
- Delaware seashore
- Virginia Beach

According to NASA's estimates, residents in a dozen states may have a line of sight to the launch, with visibility varying depending on the time after takeoff. The states include:

- Massachusetts
- West Virginia
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
How to watch the Antares launch live
Weather permitting, the launch will occur Aug. 1 at 8:31 p.m. ET.
NASA will broadcast the launch live on NASA Television, the NASA app, its website and various social media platforms, including YouTube and X (formerly known as Twitter.)
What is the weather forecast for the Antares launch?
According to NASA, a 48-hour forecast issued Monday for the Aug. 1 launch of the Northrop Grumman Antares rocket is currently showing to be 80% favorable conditions, with a slight chance of cumulus clouds as the main weather concern.
